DIRTY TALONS

After having released a collection of first EPs and singles in 2023, Dirty Talons entered the legendary Middle Farm Studio in South Devon, UK, to track their banging follow-up album Deep Dive straight to tape with producer Peter Miles (Architects, Crazy Arm, Petrol Girls, and many more).

The twelve tracks on Deep Dive showcase the evolution of the band and its sound, both in terms of songwriting and musical capability. Describing the overall sound of Dirty Talons may be hard, but the six-piece considers that a very good problem to have, as Deep Dive carries hints of old-school acts like Boston, Judas Priest, or Pat Benatar, while also delivering modern elements reminiscent of bands like Kvelertak, Sheer Mag, or White Reaper.

From the first single Buck-Passer – a stomping, rocking anthem about people not accepting responsibility for their actions – to catchy pop-rock bangers like Can You Feel? and more complex and deeply personal songs like ACM, the album displays a broad spectrum of riffing delight, which Dirty Talons are more than capable of delivering!

Lead vocalist Jess Howells about Deep Dive:

“Writing and recording this album allowed me to delve into some emotions in a way that I’m not sure I would’ve had without this opportunity. Dirty Talons is my first musical venture, and this was the first fully cohesive project I’ve been a part of. Writing for this album was the lengthy process that I needed it to be, as it gave me time to reflect and take a deep dive into my own mind, hence the name of the album.”

Jess’ vocal delivery has audibly reached a new peak, as she’s unlocked new levels of drive and confidence, as well as a clearer understanding of hooks and melodies. You could say she has really found her voice on Deep Dive.

The band’s signature guitar-trident, backed by an ever-roaring bass and heavy drums, sounds more fine-tuned and synced up than ever, showing off in all the right moments while leaving enough space for additional instruments like piano, organ, synth, and percussion to really shine through.

Deep Dive is Dirty Talons’ sword in the stone, and together they have liberated that blade with sparks flying all around!
