The Burning Flags – Pathways

On their second album “Pathways”, The Burning Flags present themselves as noticeably rougher and more rock-oriented than on their previous release, yet they once again succeed in incorporating catchy choruses and melodic hooklines. Stylistically, the band from Graz has taken a more diverse approach this time, though a healthy dose of punk attitude remains clearly audible. Thematically, as the title suggests, the album explores the life paths of various individuals, which form the basis for the stories told in each of the album’s tracks.

Convertible – Favorite Record

In 1995, legendary NYC-Austro-American Grunge outfit HP Zinker split up in mayhem and chaos. They had initiated two of the US most renowned Indie labels, Matador Records and Thrill Jockey, and had since used themselves up properly. Frontman Hans Platzgumer moved back to Europe and has hardly touched his guitar since. But he stayed in touch with his mate Hannah MacKenna. Ten years later they restarted the group as Convertible first with hardly any guitar but a whole lot of elaborated electronica, later with hardly any electronica but fine acoustic instruments, lately with the electric-acoustic-electronic whole load. 7 albums so far have displayed their transforming magic. At some point American bassplayer Chris Laine joined in and in the run of time more musicians and visual artists, making Convertible nowadays more an art-collective than a rock-band.

Now we face their new album “Favorite Record”- and it turnes out to be what the title suggests. 9 favorite tunes, 6 videos, sophisticated song writing in a state-of-the-art production, full of surprises, somewhere between blues and IDM. John Lennon or Freddie Mercury should have loved this: spacious sounds, melodic twists, heaps of harmonies, 2025 psychedelia and double layered lyrics, that’ll move you.

Brand new

Dirty Talons – Deep Dive

»Deep Dive« is Dirty Talons’ sword in the stone and together they have liberated that blade with sparks flying all around!

The twelve tracks on »Deep Dive« showcase the evolution of the band and its sound, both in terms of songwriting and musical capability. Describing the overall sound of Dirty Talons may be hard, but the six-piece considers that a very good problem to have, as »Deep Dive« carries hints of old-school acts like Boston, Judas Priest or Pat Benatar, while also delivering modern elements reminiscent of bands like Kvelertak, Sheer Mag or White Reaper.

The New Mourning – Songs Of Confusion

The New Mourning are preparing to unveil their second album, Songs of Confusion, on January 17—a collection that digs deep into the uncertainties of modern life and the personal questions that arise when faced with change. This eight-track album is the latest work of Thomas Pronai, musician and recording engineer, whose vision for The New Mourning revolves around capturing the raw, unfiltered energy of rock ‘n’ roll stripped down to its core. The songs were crafted in Pronai’s (mostly) analog studio, nestled in the rural edges of Austria’s Pannonian Steppe, a setting that adds an earthy, organic tone to every note recorded. This backdrop, away from the rush and hum of urban life, shapes the essence of Songs of Confusion.

Hathors – When The Sun is Out / When Skies Are Grey

Hailing from Winterthur, the trio — Marc Bouffé on guitar and vocals, Sarah Zaugg on bass, and Dominique Destraz on drums — blends a spectrum of rock influences, with nods to The Pixies, Madrugada, and The Wipers. Their sound is a reflection of life’s unpredictable ride, shifting effortlessly between quiet introspection and full-throttle noise.

Art isn’t just a backdrop for Hathors—it’s integral to their identity, shining through in their album covers, photography, and videos. Their noise-rock, layered with a touch of pop, echoes the band’s journey through lineup changes and the challenges they’ve faced together. Their upcoming album, ‘When the Sun is Out / When Skies Are Grey,’ captures this journey—a straightforward alt-rock experience that hits on the raw emotions of life.
